a hunting we will go...

...a Christmas tree hunting that is. Saturday was the day. It was the first Saturday in December, snow was to come and I was itching to get my tree up and decorated. I love hunting for the perfect tree. Growing up we always had an artificial tree but since Kyle and I have been married we've gotten a real tree every time. You wander around the tree farm seaching for THE tree, marking several before you find THE one. It's an art really. And we love it! Dzen Tree Farms is a huge tree farm out here. They have at least a hundred acres I think and many people go there for their tree. We bundled ourselves up and set out to find our tree for '09.

Poor Lyla wasn't sure what to think. She had on several layers and then a snow suit so all she could do was admire the trees. I think she had a good time though. Once she got used to being bundled up and we bribed her with a cheese stick :-) she was all smiles.
Normally it takes us about an hour of wandering around, surveying trees before we finally settle on one but not this year. Within a short while we had found THE tree. But because you always think you've found the perfect tree until you find another perfect one or get tired of looking, we kept going. After a few more trees we decided that the one we saw a few trees ago would be perfect so we went back to cut him down. It's a Frasier Fur and has an almost perfect triangular shape.
The tree that stole our hearts....

Isn't it a great tree?
