christmas tradition

Connecticut is a land filled with Christmas trees. Every where we drive, we pass at least one tree farm. With so many trees at our disposal it's a given that each year we will cut down a tree for Christmas. How could we not? It's become tradition for us and while it started out just as a single event, it has slowly evolved into a day long tradition. It started out with us just going to a local farm to cut down a tree and returning home to decorate it. Then we got this idea to roast hot dogs and marshmallows in the fireplace (yes, I do mean fireplace and not firepit) for dinner. Then this year we added in watching a Christmas movie while we at our dinner. So this year we bundled up and headed to the famed (locally that is) Dzen (the 'd' is silent) Tree Farm to find our prized tree.
After walking around surveying all the trees, we settled on a tree and cut it down. Lyla had a good time until the end when she decided she was hungry and kept saying 'nack over and over again. (I love how she has her hand resting on her leg as she helps Kyle cut down the tree.)

Lyla enjoyed helping put on the ornaments but tended to put them all in one spot...

Roasting hot dogs in our fireplace... We decided to watch Elf since that was the most kid-friendly Christmas "mobie" we had. Lyla loved watching "Elp" and often asks to watch it even though she doesn't normally get to watch a bunch of tv.
