A few days ago Kyle sent an email to his family sharing some of the things he has learned about changing diapers. For those of you that are familiar with the book "On Becoming Baby Wise", Kyle likes to call what he learned "On Becoming Diaper Wise". I thought the list was pretty funny so I'm sharing it with you. I'm sure most of you can identify with these lessons:
1) Never change a diaper in a tie.
2) Even though Lyla is a girl, not a boy, there can definitely be spraying. . . at any moment, never, ever let your guard down (or the diaper).
3) The best time for a baby to go to the bathroom is when the diaper is off (fresh air).
3a) The next best time is immediately following a fresh diaper being put on.
4) The first few diaper changes I used about 5 wipes. Then I saw how many times diapers are changed and how expensive the wipes are and you learn quickly that only in extreme circumstances is it a 2-wiper.
5) A blow-out sounds like kind of a fun thing. . . when you are talking diapers, it is not.
5a) The record was after my b-ball game last week when she went through the diaper, onesie, pants, dress, and onto the carseat. . .
6) If she hasn't pooped for awhile, be sure that you aren't the one holding her when she does. It will be a 2-wiper for sure.
7) Mom and all people from the "good old days" are saints for washing the cloth diapers. I know we do laundry much more frequently now due to multiple outfits a day due to some bodily fluid or another on either our clothes or Lyla's. I can't imagine with the diapers added.
